Big Lake Woman Seriously Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash Near Foley

A Big Lake woman was one of three people injured Thursday evening in a three-vehicle traffic crash near the community of Foley in Benton County.

The State Patrol reports that around 6:45 PM, a Ford commercial truck was westbound on Highway 95 in St. George Township when it ran a stop sign at the intersection with Minnesota Highway 25, colliding with a pickup truck and a passenger car.

Officials say the driver of the pickup, 25-year-old Rebecca Kalstad of Big Lake sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital. A passenger in the pickup, 54-year-old Rhonda Krueger of Clear Lake had non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to the St. Cloud Hospital. A third passenger, a two-year-old gir from Clear Lake, was not injured.

The driver of the Ford commercial truck, 22-year-old Andrew Himel of St. Joseph had minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.

The driver of the passenger car that was also involved in the crash, 41-year-old Jamie Martinson of Harris, Minnesota, was not injured.

Authorities report that everyone involved was using a seat belt, and that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The Foley Police and Fire Departments, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mayo Ambulance assisted the State Patrol.
