March Employment Down Locally and in Minnesota

Wright County’s jobless numbers in March were back down after a slight rise in February.

New statistics from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development show that Wright County’s non-seasonally adjusted March unemployment was at 3.6 percent, down from 4.2 percent in February, but slightly higher than the 3.2 percent rate in March of 2022.

The new numbers show that Wright County’s labor force was virtually unchanged from February to March, but employment rose during the month by about 400 individuals, suggesting that there may have been some seasonal workers that began to get back to the job.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment numbers for Minnesota in March were down slightly to 2.8 percent compared to an even 3 percent in February.

The seasonally adjusted U-S unemployment was down just a tenth of a point from 3.6 percent in February to 3.5 percent in March.
