New Report Shows Sizable Job Growth in January

The latest jobs report finds Minnesota employers added just over 14,000 jobs in January.

Interim Commissioner of the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development, Kevin McKinnon says it’s the biggest month-to-month gain since February of 2022. He says Minnesota’s labor market is still very tight but not as tight as originally estimated. McKinnon says DEED will continue with outreach to Minnesotans who remain on the employment sidelines and utilize our programs and services to get them back in the workforce.

Minnesota’s unemployment rate remains at 2.9 percent, with the labor force participation rate also holding steady at around 68 percent.

Updated job numbers will be released later this month for both February and March.
