Two Weekend Traffic Crashes in Our Region

Two people were injured in separate traffic crashes in our area over the weekend.

The State Patrol reports that early Saturday afternoon, a single-vehicle traffic crash in Otsego left the driver injured.

Officials say that just before 1 PM, an SUV was northbound on Highway 101 at 90th Street Northeast when the driver veered off the road and the vehicle rolled over.

Injured in the crash was the driver, 27-year-old Alysha Peterson-Sharrat of Ogilvie sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Two passengers in the vehicle, 34-year-old Richard Thompson of Ogilvie, and a 7-year-old girl, also from Ogilvie, escaped injury.

Friday morning, an Elk River woman was injured when her car ran off eastbound Highway 10 at 166th Street in Big Lake after apparently falling asleep at the wheel.

Authorities say the driver, 20-year-old Ashley Peterson of Elk River sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Mercy Hospital of Coon Rapids.

The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
