Johnson was arrested July 6th of 2024 in Becker after a lengthy police chase that began in St. Cloud. According to the criminal report, Sherburne County Sheriff’s Deputies clocked the pickup truck he was driving at more than 100 miles per hour. When a traffic stop was attempted, the truck sped away. Johnson apparently lost control of the truck on Highway 10 near Liberty Lane in Becker and collided with an eastbound Toyota passenger car. The Toyota then collided with a westbound vehicle on Highway 10. The pickup ran off the road and struck a Subaru passenger car in the parking lot of a business.

The driver of the Toyota car that was struck by the pickup that Johnson was driving, 36-year-old Christopher Vyskocil of Becker was initially air lifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale where he died nine days later. The driver of the second vehicle struck in the crash survived the incident.

Officials said that the pickup Johnson was driving turned out to be stolen. The initial reports from authorities indicated that Johnson admitted to ingesting heroin on the morning of the day of the crash. A blood test reportedly indicated the presence of fentanyl.

Court records indicate that Johnson has also had multiple convictions for driving after revocation, lack of insurance and speeding.
