15-Year-Old Driver Injured After Stolen Vehicle Pursuit – Rollover Crash near Becker

A 15-year-old driver was injured in a rollover crash in a stolen vehicle near Becker late Friday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a 2020 Kia Sportage that had been reported stolen from the city of Minneapolis.  The car fled from the deputy, and emergency equipment was activated.  The driver lost control and left the roadway near US Highway 10 and Sherburne County Road 11, where the car rolled.

The driver, reported to be a 15-year-old male, was not wearing a seatbelt.  He was transported to CentraCare Children’s Hospital.  His identity and condition were not released.

Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash.  The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.  Questions regarding the pursuit should be directed to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.

Assisting the State Patrol were the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, Becker Police, Big Lake Police, Becker Fire, and CentraCare Ambulance.
