2025 MSHSL Class AAA State Boys Soccer Preview.

The 2025 Boys Soccer State Tournament is here, and Buffalo has qualified for state. Below is a preview of the state tournament. Good luck to the Bison, and AM1360 KRWC, will have all of the Bison games at AM1360 KRWC, krwc1360.com and on our app. Pregame begins fifteen minutes before the game, and all games are subject to change. Find the schedule and bracket at the bottom of the preview.

The Teams:

#1 Seed: Edina Hornets, 15-2-1, defeated Minnetonka, 4-1 in 2AAA Final.
State Appearance #: 12. State Champs in 1999,2000,2001, and 2019.
Player to watch: All of them! Very balanced team.
Did you know? The Hornets were rewarded the #1 seed despite losing at home to Buffalo, 4-1 in August.

Edina, above in green is seeking its first state championship since 2019.

#2 Seed: Buffalo Bison, 15-0-4, defeated Alex, 5-1 in 8AAA final.
State Appearance #: 2.
Player to watch: Owen Seestrom, 15 goals and 11 assists.
Did you know? The only time the Bison went to state prior was in 2004, coached by Nick Guida, yes, the same Nick Guida who won the 2007 state basketball championship at Buffalo.

#3 Seed: Maple Grove Crimson, 13-2-2, defeated Mounds View, 2-1 in the 5AAA final.
State Appearance #:  2nd.
Player to watch: Everett Johnston, 13 goals and nine assists.
Did you know? Lost to Eagan in state final last year in first state appearance, 4-3.

#4 Seed: Wayzata Trojans, 11-2-5, defeated Armstrong, 3-0 in 6AAA finals.
State Appearance #: 18th. State Champs in 1985, 2005, 2017, 2022, and 2023.
Player to watch: George Soeffker
Did you know? The Trojans have either won it all or finished second in eleven of their eighteen state tournament appearances.

Wayzata, above in blue and gold is headed back to state for the 19th time.

#5 Seed: St. Paul Central Minutemen, 14-3-1, defeated Stillwater, 4-3 in 2 ot’s in 4AAA Finals.
State Appearance #: 4th.
Player to watch: Tommy Voshell, 17 goals and 8 assists.
Did you know? They tied their first-round opponent Wayzata, 0-0 in the regular season.

Random Draw: Eagan Wildcats, 11-2-4, defeated Rosemount, 2-0 in AAA Final.
State Appearance #: 9th. 2024 state champs.
Player to watch: Owen Juntilla.
Did you know? The Wildcats defeated Maple Grove, 4-3 in last year’s state championship game.

Eagan, above in white, is back to defend their state championship.

Random Draw: Rochester John Marshall Trojans, 15-1-3, defeated Mayo, 3-0 in 1AAA Finals.
State Appearance #: 3rd.
Player to watch: Gustavus Baltavics.
Did you know? Of the fifteen wins this season for JM, fourteen where shutouts from goalie David Carter.

Random Draw: Blaine Bengals, 15-2-2, defeated Centennial, 3-2 in 7AAA finals.
State Appearance #: 12th.
Player to watch: Damir Sacic.
Did you know? After starting last year 7-7-1, the Bengals have gone 18-3-1 heading into this year’s state tournament.

Blaine, above in white, has been red hot since the middle of last season.
