The 2025 Fall Sports season is here! Once again KRWC Radio will have all the best Wright County Area sports coverage. Today we are focusing on Girls and Boys Cross Country. Below is some of the key story lines for the 2025 Fall Sports season. Good luck to all teams and athletes this fall.
Fast as a Tiger
Last fall the Delano Tigers girl’s cross country team finished 5th in the state in the class AA meet, and this season they return seven of their top nine runners. Delano is led by Mya Werner, a Senior who finished 5th at state last fall. The Tigers are state title contender.

Rocket Speed
The Rockford Rockets boy’s cross country team returns six of its top nine runners from a state tournament team last season. Will Czech is the top returner. Czech a Junior finished 40th at state last fall. A very deep team could lead to another Top 10 finish at state this fall.

Another year’s Wirth
Sal Wirth after coming oh so close to winning a state championship in Cross Country, finally captured first at state last year in AA. Sal is now at the U of M, but his brother Emory is back after finishing 18th at state last year, and he is only a sophomore.

What about us?
There are a bunch of other athletes in the Wright County Area that reached state last year including, Isabella Mahoney (Sr., Monticello) who finished 12th last fall. McKenzie Myran (8th grader, STMA.) Maya Roelofs (Rockford, finished 10th last year.) On the boy’s side, Charlie Bortnem (DC, finished 25th last year), returns as do Oliver Beck (Jr., Delano), and Max Salas (STMA.)
