The traditional holiday travel season comes to a close today (Wednesday), New Year’s Day.
AAA expected record travel throughout the U-S from Christmas through New Year’s, and much of that travel was expected to be on the highways.
AAA reports that gas prices in Minnesota are running right about where they were last year at this time.
Statewide, a gallon of self-service unleaded is running an average of $2.86 per gallon, just fractions of a cent lower than New Year’s Day 2024. Metro area gas is averaging around $2.92 per gallon, about two cents per gallon higher than a month ago, and up about four cents a gallon from last year at this time. Here in Wright County, the average price at the pump is $2.85 per gallon according to AAA, but a number of service stations in the Buffalo area are showing considerably lower prices at their pumps.
The vast majority of service stations and convenience stores in our area will be open for business on this New Year’s Day holiday.
