A number of federal offices will be closed today (Thursday) in observance of a “day of mourning” marking the funeral services for former President Jimmy Carter.
The nation’s 39th president passed away December 29th at the age of 100.
The United States Postal Service has announced that there will be no pickup or delivery of mail today (Thursday). Most federal offices will be closed. Stock markets and most farm markets will be closed, or will close early today.
State, county and city offices will be open, schools are open, though some may observe a moment of silence. Most banks will be open as usual.
Today (Thursday) is the first national “day of mourning” since December of 2018 marking the passing of former President George H. W. Bush.
