(MN Senator Eric Lucero – R – St. Michael)
A state lawmaker from our area has gone on record admonishing Minnesota Senate DFL’ers for failing to vote to expel Senator Nicole Mitchell because of the felony burglary charges she faces.
Senate Democrats rejected a Republican motion to expel Senator Mitchell who is facing trial on felony first-degree burglary charges stemming from an incident at her stepmother’s residence in 2024.
Senator Eric Lucero, Republican from St. Michael said in a news release…”By voting to protect Senator Mitchell, Democrats have shown they value partisanship over principles. Her presence in the Senate, while on trial for felony first-degree burglary, is an insult to Minnesotans and to justice.”
Lucero went on to say…”The Senate must hold itself to a higher standard. Minnesotans deserve leaders who are accountable, and today, Senate Democrats failed them by once again shielding Senator Mitchell.”
You may remember that the Senate GOP also offered the motion to expel Senator Mitchell during the 2024 legislative session, but it failed when all DFL’ers voted to rule the motion out of order.
