The Elk River Police Department is investigating the discovery of a deceased person at the Elk River Landfill earlier this week.
Authorities say police and fire department officials were called to the landfill around 9 AM on Tuesday to investigate an employee reported missing by a trucking company. The individual was delivering waste to the landfill.
Shortly after law enforcement officials arrived, the individual was located and was pronounced deceased at the site. That person has not yet been identified.
Elk River Police officials say while an open investigation is ongoing, foul play is not suspected.
The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and OSHA are assisting the Elk River Police Department with the investigation.
