Minnesotans who have used the state’s Cold Weather Rule to avoid getting their utilities shut off during the winter will now need to find another course. The state’s Cold Weather Rule expired late last week.
Consumer Affairs Office Supervisor Anne Thom says you can still apply for assistance…
“That could provide a primary heat grant, which would pay current charges going forward. And then there’s crisis funds, which would be applied to a past due balance and you qualify for crisis funds. If you have a notice of disconnection or your service has been shut off.”
The deadline to apply for energy assistance is May 31st.
