The Highway 55 re-construction project through the community of Annandale is scheduled to begin a new phase today (Tuesday).
Highway 55 will now be closed to through traffic between Brown and Poplar Avenues. Drivers will instead be directed to a detour route utilizing Wright County Roads 3 and 39, State Highway 24, and County Road 6.

Officials stress that access will be maintained at all times along the work zone, although there will be occasional changes and use of alternate accesses.
Highway 55 is expected to be open to two-way traffic between Annandale Boulevard and Poplar Avenue, although there will be lane shifts and at times the roadway will have no shoulders.
Drivers should expect to encounter gravel or grooved road surfaces, narrowed lanes, flaggers controlling traffic, and heavy equipment. There will also be occasional hard closures when crews are working on structures beneath the road.
Pedestrians are also reminded to be watchful for sidewalk closures, and follow the signs for routes safe for foot travel.
Work on Highway 55 and associated projects is expected to continue through mid-October.
