The Wright County Sheriff’s Department released preliminary information late this morning about the resolution of a standoff at an apartment building in Montrose.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that as of 5:30 this morning (Thursday) deputies were executing a search warrant at 157 Mindy Lane in the City of Montrose. During the execution of that warrant, a suspect inside the apartment barricaded themselves inside, and a gunshot was reportedly fired from inside of the apartment unit.
Residents of the Mindy Lane apartments were evacuated and nearby residents were asked to shelter in place. Throughout the morning, the Sheriff’s Office asked everyone to avoid the area.
Late this morning, the Sheriff’s Office issued a statement about the conclusion of the standoff. The statement read, “The suspect has been taken into custody at 10:42 AM without incident. No injuries have been reported in connection with this incident. The area will remain secured for some time as emergency personnel on scene conduct their investigation. At this time there is no known danger to the public. The Sheriff’s Office asks people to avoid the area until emergency personnel have completed their work at the scene.”
The identity of the individual arrested in the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the standoff have not yet been released.
