Information is still limited regarding an early morning standoff in the community of Montrose Thursday morning.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Department reported that as of 5:30 AM Thursday, deputies were attempting to execute a search warrant at 157 Mindy Lane in the City of Montrose. Officials say during this time, a suspect in the apartment barricaded themselves inside, and a gunshot was reportedly fired from inside of the apartment unit.
Residents of the Mindy Lane Apartments were evacuated and nearby residents were asked to shelter in place, and throughout the morning, the Sheriff’s Office asked everyone to avoid the area.
Late Thursday morning, the Sheriff’s Office issued a statement about the conclusion of the standoff.
The statement read, “The suspect has been taken into custody at 10:42 AM without incident. No injuries have been reported in connection with this incident. The area will remain secured for some time as emergency personnel on scene conduct their investigation. At this time there is no known danger to the public. The Sheriff’s Office asks people to avoid the area until emergency personnel have completed their work at the scene.”
The identity of the individual arrested in the incident, and the circumstances surrounding the standoff have not yet been released.
