A Monticello man was arrested in recent days in connection with an alleged incident of burglary and assault at a residence in Big Lake.
The Big Lake Police Department says officers responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Big Lake May 6th.
Officers learned an assault involving a weapon described as a knife had occurred. Officials say the suspect was identified as a Monticello man, Noberto Lazaro Neira. Neira’s age was not given.
Big Lake Police Officers and deputies with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office located Neira’s vehicle at his residence. The investigation turned up information that pointed to the possibility that Neira may have been at a local department store in Monticello. Officers responded to the area that they believed the suspect may be present. Authorities were able to identify a vehicle that Neira was occupying, and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted. Officials say Neira was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at Neira’s residence in Monticello, where officials say they recovered a knife believed to have been used during the assault.
Neira was booked into the Sherburne County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Threats of Violence with Reckless Disregard of Risk, and two counts of Domestic Assault.
There was no report of any injuries in the incident.
