In a recent survey by SafeWise, three area cities were named among the safest in the state of Minnesota.
SafeWise ranks Buffalo at #17 on the list, Big Lake at #8, and Corcoran at #3. Every city ranked in the top 20 reported no more than one violent crime per 1000 residents, fewer than seven property crimes per 1000 residents, and most ranked cities saw year-over-year decreases in both property and violent crime.
In their most recent State of Safety survey, SafeWise found that overall, less than half of Minnesotans feel safe in the state, coming in at 44%, which is slightly lower than the nationwide average of 48%. Despite this, Minnesotans by and large are not worried, with only 39% saying they were concerned with their safety daily.
Of the crimes Minnesotans are most concerned about, 59% said violent crime, 41% said property crime, 51% said gun violence, and 48% said package theft.
SafeWise ranked Montevideo as the #1 safest city in the state of Minnesota.
