American Cancer Society officials say they are alarmed by 715 billion dollars in cuts to Medicaid in the budget bill passed by the U-S House. Minnesota government relations director Emily Myatt says this is the single-largest cut ever to Medicaid…
“Medicaid is cancer care. People living with cancer rely on Medicaid to access their chemotherapy, for access to things like mammograms, colonoscopies. those really important cancer screenings. And so without health care we know that outcomes are worse. And that’s why we’re so concerned about this bill.”
Myatt says more than 253 thousand Minnesotans could lose their health care coverage under the bill. She’s hoping the U-S Senate will make changes to the Medicaid work requirements and funding cuts.
