The National Weather Service has given preliminary confirmation that multiple tornado touchdowns occurred in the early morning hours Sunday in neighboring Carver County.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management reports that the National Weather Service confirms two EF1 tornadoes. One tracked from Goose Lake to the northwest end of Lake Waconia. The second tracked from the vicinity of Stone Lake, south of Highway 7, through Zumbra Lake, ending at Roundhouse Park to Lake Minnewashta.

Weather Service officials say additional EF-zero tornadoes also touched down in the area, and final details are pending.

Carver County Emergency Management continues to coordinate response efforts with local jurisdictions and utility companies. Xcel Energy crews are also actively working to restore power to affected areas and to clear downed power lines.

Affected municipalities are being consulted to assess debris management needs and to coordinate assistance.

Residents in the affected areas in Carver County are advised to stay clear of downed power lines and report them to Xcel Energy. Residents should exercise caution when traveling through areas with storm debris, and contact local authorities for immediate safety concerns. Those persons who have had property damage are being asked to document the damage for insurance purposes.
