30 people who adopted a duck for the 2025 Monticello Riverfest were winners of at least 100 dollars after the weekend duck drop. Each year, Riverfest offers adoption of numbered rubber ducks that are dropped into the Mississippi River for a race to determine the 30 winners.
This year’s top prize winner of $2500 was Justin Hutchinson of Coon Rapids, whose duck crossed the finish line first.
Sharon Doty, Amelia Weber, Gabrick Metcalf and Rob Olson of Monticello, along with Darlene Childs with no town address, had ducks that finished two through six, earning them $1000 each.
Ducks 7 through 29 earned $100 each for the persons who adopted them, and the last duck to cross the finish line earned $100 for Janson Hensyer of Monticello.
