Funeral Services Today (Tuesday) for Former KRWC Radio Personality and Newspaper Columnist, Darlene Dixon

Funeral services are planned for today (Tuesday) for a longtime Wright County resident who was a former program host on KRWC Radio, and a columnist with the Wright County Journal Press and The Drummer.

Darlene Dixon passed away July 22nd during a medical procedure at a Twin Cities hospital. She was 89 years old.

Darlene grew up on a farm in Greenfield, and graduated with the Class of 1955 at Buffalo High School. She and her husband Robert “Buddy” Dixon raised their family at their home on the Crow River in Hanover.

Darlene was a noted cook, and specialized in baking. For many years, whe would hold a Christmas season bake sale after baking over 100 dozen cookies and treats.

It was this noteworthy expertise that landed Darlene some side work as a columnist for the Wright County Journal Press and The Drummer in Buffalo, and a weekly Saturday morning program on KRWC Radio, “Kitchen Medley,” which she hosted for some 15 years. The program featured weekly recipes and household tips.

Darlene was also the author of seven different cook books in her lifetime.

A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held today (Tuesday at 2 PM) at the Maranatha Assembly of God at 24799 Forest Boulevard North in Forest Lake.
