The Wright County License Center is advising residents of another type of scam that is circulating throughout the state and in our area.
The Minnesota Department of Driver and Vehicle Services is warning of scam emails and texts that request payments. People are getting emails and texts claiming to be from the Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles, Minnesota DVS, or Minnesota Department of Vehicle Administration about outstanding penalties and traffic tickets.
Officials say the actual Minnesota DVS never sends texts or emails asking for money or saying money is due. If you receive such an email or text, do not respond or click any links. If you think the message is real, contact DVS at www.drive.mn.gov.
Authorities say If possible, report the message as a scam and delete it.
