The 2025 Farmfest is going on this week in Redwood County in south central Minnesota, and Wright County is well represented at the annual farm trade show and agricultural fair.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing, a local dairy producer from Waverly, appeared on the Linder Farm Network’s Midday Farm News program from Farmfest on Wednesday.
Glessing said the Farm Bureau is alive and well in Minnesota…
“So we’re just over 31 thousand members throughout, and we have 78 county or regional Farm Bureaus all across the state. Every county is represented in our membership. And when you’re a general farm organization, you’ve got it all…whether it’s hogs, you’ve got row crops, you’ve got sugar beets…you’ve got that cross section of agriculture, and it’s really grass roots driven. Our policy that we advocate for whether it’s in St. Paul, or D-C is 100 percent grass roots driven from those Farm Bureaus.”

Thursday, the County Farm Families of the Year will be recognized at Farmfest. The Matter Family Farm of Delano is the 2025 Wright County Farm Family of the Year. The family, including parents Paul and Aumori and their sons Ben and Alex, represent the seventh generation to farm the same land since Joseph Matter cleared the first field in 1856. The farm is known for its maple syrup production and is also involved in beef production.
