The State Patrol is investigating a vehicle-pedestrian crash in the City of Big Lake Thursday afternoon that injured an 11-year-old.

Authorities say around 5:15 Thursday, the juvenile male was struck by a passing vehicle at the intersection of Highways 25 and 10.

Officials say a Chevy Suburban was westbound on Highway 10 and struck the youngster while crossing Highway 25. Big Lake Police officers immediately provided aid to the crash victim, who was later transported to Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis. The name of the youngster has not been released.

The State Patrol identifies the driver of the Suburban as 49-year-old Henry Schelhass of Big Lake. The Big Lake Police Department says Schelhass stopped and remained on the scene after the crash, and is said to be cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
