Three local first responders were recognized at the September 15th Howard Lake City Council meeting for their quick action that saved the life of a motorist earlier this summer.

In mid-July, Rick Langness suffered a major cardiac event while traveling along Highway 12 in Howard Lake.

Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Samantha Hansen, Howard Lake Police Chief Dave Thompson, and Howard Lake Assistant Fire Chief Alex Mages responded to the scene, and all participated in lifesaving measures including CPR that ultimately saved the man’s life.

Once stabilized, Langness was airlifted to a metro area hospital for further treatment.

This week, Rick Langness, the victim whose life was saved, was present along with Howard Lake Fire Chief Eric Stoll for the presentation of special lifesaver commendations.
