An 85-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was struck while crossing the street Wednesday morning in the Carver County Community of Victoria.
According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, authorities responded to a 911 call reporting that a woman was hit by a northbound vehicle while walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of Victoria Drive and County Road 18 in Victoria. Witnesses reported that the driver was traveling through the intersection with a green light.
The driver, a 53-year-old man from Victoria, stayed on the scene and is reportedly cooperating with law enforcement. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be involved in this accident.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Hennepin Health Care in Minneapolis, where she was last reported to be in critical condition. The names of the injured woman and the driver have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
