The Buffalo Police Department reports that many calls have been received by residents in the area where people who claim to be members of the Buffalo Police Department, and / or the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. In most scenarios, the person on the other end of the call requests money, and officials say some of their tactics seem quite real, and can be alarming.

Officials with the Buffalo Police and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office again remind residents that law enforcement will never call you and demand money. Another giveaway to these scams is if the person on the other end demands you stay on the phone and purchase things like gift cards, or send them money in other ways. Officials say you should never send money in any fashion to someone claiming to be an officer or deputy.
