Wright County Area High School Scores for the Week of Fri. Oct. 3rd-Sat. October 11th.

Friday, October 3rd.

Football.

Buffalo 42, Irondale 6. Grant Benson had a combined 310 yards of total offense, with 225 passing and 85 rushing, including two TD passes and two rushing touchdowns in the Bison blowout win on homecoming. Jackson Coss added three receptions for 85 yards and a TD, while rushing for 35 yards and a TD for Buffalo.

Hendrix Gatz, #1 is lifted into the air by #70 Trent Strome, after his touchdown against Irondale on Friday night.

Monticello 52, Brainerd 29. Cale Holthaus (4), and Garrett Baur (2), combined for six rushing touchdowns as the Magic offense continued to hum in their blow out road win at Brainerd.

The Monticello D line, above in white, is one of the big reasons the Magic are 5-1 this season.

Delano 28, Mound 2. Grant Bruett went 7-9 with 146 yards passing with a TD, while also rushing for 130 yards and three TD’s as the Tigers rolled over Mound on Friday, avenging last year’s 47-0 playoff loss to the Whitehawk’s.

Annandale 35, Rockford 7. The Rockets held tough with the Cards, only trailing 14-7 at the half, but the #1AAA Cards outscored Rockford, 21-0 in the second have to pull away with the home win. Cam Ergen (1), and Isiah Turner (2), scored two TDs on the ground for Annandale, while Colton Purcell and Gabe Westman each caught a TD pass for Annandale.

Howard Lake WW 20, New London Spicer 7. Raydon Graham (28-100 yards), got the Lakers to the goal line, while Jaxon Ewert (3 TD’s all under three yards) finished the drives in the Lakers win at NLS.

Maple Grove 35, STMA 24. The Knights hung tough again against a top ranked team but came up just short. Wyatt Mosher rushed for 103 yards and two TDs in the Knights loss.

Upsala Swanville 52, Maple Lake 8.

Dassel-Cokato 58, Montevideo 0.

Saturday, October 4th.

Girls Tennis Sections, Individual.

The doubles team of Julia DeChane and Samantha Voll advanced to the semifinals in doubles, and will attempt to advance to state on Saturday, October 11th.

Lauren Berg, Katie Siemak and the doubles teams of Evie Lubben/Rosery Gilbertson, and Sadie Scherber/ and Mattie Kuzma all advanced to sections in 8AAA but saw their season’s come to an end on Saturday.

Boys Soccer.

Buffalo 6, Elk River 1. Owen Seestrom and Saul Rhodes each scored two goals as the Bison finished the regular season, 12-0-4. It’s the first undefeated regular season in Bison history.

STMA 4, Armstrong 3. Atnhony Davis scored a hat trick, while Rovi Camacho-Millan added a goal and three assists in the Knights win.

Girls Soccer.

Rockford 2, Princeton 0. Brooke Weise scored the game winning goal for the Rockets.

Buffalo 3, Elk River 1. Sophie Alderman netted a hat trick in the Bison win.

STMA 2, Chanhassen 2. Emma Kvant had a goal and an assist for the Knights, while Sanae Radloff also had a goal and an assist for STMA.

Volleyball.

Maple Lake lost 2-0 to Cloquet at the Mora invite.

Monday, October 6th.

Girls Tennis.

Delano is headed to state! The Tigers knocked off Southwest Christian, 4-3 on Monday in the Section finals, played at Rogers.

Volleyball.

Delano 3, Benilde St. Margeret’s 2. Not only was this #2AAA Delano, and #3AAA BSM, a top three matchup in the state, but it very well could be a preview of the section finals, and it lived up to the hype, with Delano winning, 25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 23-25, and 15-11.

Kimball 3, Rockford 1. Mazie Jurek (19), and Claire Horner (13), combined for 32 kills in the Cubs win.

Princeton 3, Buffalo 1. The Tigers outscored the Bison, 88-83 overall in the four-set win.

Section 6A, Play in Game.

Watertown Mayer 5, Rockford 1. The Royals ended the Rockets season with a blowout win on Monday night.

Tuesday, October 7th.

Boys Soccer.

Section 8AAA Quarterfinals.

#1 Buffalo 4, #8 Brainerd 0. Gavin Johnson scored the first two goals, while Reid Poser and Kai Williams scored insurance goals as the Bison cruised into the semifinals.

#5 Monticello 4, #4 Moorhead 1. Gabe Corzo, Kian Gustafson, Cody Felton, and Caleb Vagle all scored for the Magic as they won on the road to advance to the semifinals, where they will take on Buffalo on the road on Thursday.

#3 STMA 2, #6 Bemidji 0. The Knights scored a goal in each half, with Rovi Camacho-Millan scoring in the first half, and Titus Schmoyer in the second half and advanced to the Section semifinals.

Volleyball.

Howard Lake WW 3, Kimball 0. The Lakers made quick work of the Cubs, 25-18, 25-11, and 25-11.

Maple Lake 3, Breck 0. The Irish got better every set, sweeping the Bulldogs, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-12.

Dassel-Cokato 3, Atwater CGC 0. The Chargers pulled away, 25-16, 25-22, and 29-27.

Delano 3, Mound 0.
