Three Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash in Monticello Early Sunday

Three drivers were injured, one seriously, when three vehicles collided in Monticello just after midnight Sunday morning.

The State Patrol reports that just minutes after 12 AM, a Chevy pickup, a Chevy Cruze passenger car, and a Chevy Malibu sedan collided on Highway 25 at 7th Street in Monticello.

Officials say that the pickup was northbound on Highway 25 when it struck the Chevy Cruze that was westbound on 7th Street, then also struck the Chevy Malibu that was southbound on Highway 25.

Authorities say the driver of the pickup, 40-year-old Tyler Wild of Zimmerman sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital. The State Patrol reports that alcohol was present in Wild’s system.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu, 42-year-old Nathan Gibb of Redwood Falls sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

The third driver, a 17-year-old male who was not identified, had non-life threatening injuries and was treated at the CentraCare Hospital in Monticello.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
