Friends, family and longtime customers will remember a longtime Buffalo resident and former businessman at funeral services today (Monday).
William “Bill” “Sonny” Schmidt passed away October 14th at the age of 90.
Bill grew up in Corcoran, and graduated with the Buffalo High School Class of 1953.
He served in the U-S Army from 1955 to 1957, and began work with the Highway Department with the State of Minnesota in 1960.
In 1973, Bill purchased a Champion Auto Parts store in Buffalo, which he ran until his retirement in 1999.
Later in life, he would focus on clock making and repair, and made music boxes, clocks, and toys which he often sold at craft fairs.
Bill was an active member of the Life in Christ Lutheran Church in Albertville where he had served in several leadership roles for more than 40 years, and where his funeral services will be held today (Monday).
