Ag Groups React Positively to Possible U-S, China Trade Breakthrough

Agricultural groups in the U-S are reacting positively to the announcement by U-S Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that a new “substantial framework” for agricultural trade could increase China’s purchases of American farm goods, particularly soybeans.

Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing of Waverly says it’s nice to get some positive news, provided that a deal is actually finalized…

Glad to see it, we would like to see those products moving, and obviously frameworks are one thing, but let’s make sure those products that have been committed or worked out, get pen to paper deals and our commodities that other countries want, quite honestly. We want to make sure that they get there and get these products moving again.”

Early indications are that final details of a possible trade agreement could be formalized when President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping meet in South Korea later this week.
