Members of Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association Donate More Than $100,000 to Local Organizations

Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association members who participate in the Operation Round Up (ORU) program donated grants totaling more than 102 thousand dollars in the month of October.

Wright-Hennepin members who participate in ORU allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest dollar. The rounded amount is then used for donations supporting local programs. The Operation Round Up board manages the donated funds which are held in a trust fund. Through a selection process and review of guidelines, the ORU trustees evaluate funding requests bi-monthly and award the grants.

Some of the top grants in October were in the amount of 10 thousand dollars each to the Buffalo Rotary for its Adopt-A-Family program, Love INC Heartland in support of its Fresh Start Program, the Lutheran Social Services Crisis Nursery, Senior Community Services in support of senior programs at the Monticello and Crow River centers, and True Friends.

Since its inception in 1994, Operation Round Up has awarded more than 5.4 million dollars.
