The National Weather Service observes the week in hopes that residents will think ahead to the potential dangers of winter weather in our state, and to get prepared to prevent being caught off guard.

Officials say the winter months can pose a number of hazards for those who love outdoor recreation in the winter. Keeping yourself safe from the cold, ice and snow is critical.
