Two drivers were killed, and two passengers were injured in an early morning traffic crash Saturday just east of Buffalo.
The State Patrol reports that around 2:30 AM Saturday, a Chevy Equinox was westbound on Highway 55, while a GMC Acadia was eastbound when the vehicles collided near County Road 33.
The impact from the crash sent both SUVs into the ditch, with the Equinox rolling into the north ditch, while the GMC rolled into the south ditch.
Killed in the crash was the driver of the GMC vehicle, 50-year-old Shawn Slaven of Plymouth.
The driver of the Chevy SUV, 20-year-old Mindimoie Diggines of St. Paul also died at the scene of the crash. Two passengers in her vehicle were injured. 18-year-old Brooke Hoheisel of Freeport had life threatening injuries and was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, while 18-year-old Precious Diggines of Minneapolis sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
The State Patrol reports all of the crash victims were using there seat belts. Authorities say it’s unknown if alcohol was a factor.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buffalo Police and Fire Departments assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
