Countless Thanksgiving dinners across the U-S were likely to have featured Minnesota turkeys or turkey products this year. That’s mainly because Minnesota leads the nation in turkey production.
Minnesota Turkey Growers Association Executive Director Ashley Kohls notes that while turkey is enjoyed year-round, the focus naturally shifts to Thanksgiving because of the tradition of making it the centerpiece of the holiday meal.
Kohls says Minnesota turkey growers have shown a lot of resilience in 2025…
“I think it’s been a really interesting year for turkey in 2025 when you look at the disease challenges that our industry has faced for the past number of years. 2025 was actually a welcome respite, so we were able to get some supply chain stabilization.”
Kohls says there’s been more variation of turkey products available in grocery stores this year compared to recent years.
