4 Semis and SUV Collide on I-94 at Highway 25 in Monticello

Tuesday’s snowstorm caused a multi-vehicle crash on I-94 at the Highway 25 overpass in Monticello.

The State Patrol reports that around 3:30 PM, four semi trucks and an SUV all collided in the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

The driver of the SUV, 43-year-old Erick Cavada of Lakeville sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was treated at the Monticello Hospital.

The drivers of the four semi rigs involved, men from Bloomington, Princeton, Mora, and Tampa, Florida, all escaped injury.

The multi-vehicle crash backed up traffic for a lengthy period of time on the freeway, and was among numerous crashes throughout the region caused by snowy and icy roads.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Fire Department, and CentraCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
