Walz Signs Executive Orders to Address Gun Violence in MN

Governor Tim Walz signed three executive orders Tuesday directed at addressing gun violence in Minnesota.

Walz said he expects the research numbers will shine a spotlight on the costs of tragedies that occur far too frequently in Minnesota and throughout the country…

We are going to use that data to do the research the federal government is too cowardice to do to understand that this is a public health crisis that could be attacked like any other public health crisis. So I encourage those insurance companies to get your lawyers, if that’s what you would want to do and not provide this data. But I can tell you this thing is rock solid and you’re gonna provide it.”

The orders will establish a Statewide Safety Council, aim to provide more data on what gun violence costs Minnesota, and improve education on safe gun storage.
