Icy roads are said to be to blame for a fatal traffic crash in Elk River Tuesday morning. Elk River Police Chief David Kuhnly says the crash happened around 6:25 AM Tuesday on Main Street Northwest and Highway 169.
Officials say Elk River Police and Fire arrived on the scene of a vehicle-pedestrian crash that claimed the life of 53-year-old Clayton Connolly of Nowthen. Connolly was reported to have been assisting a motorist whose vehicle was stuck due to icy road conditions when he was struck by a vehicle that was exiting northbound Highway 169 and attempting to turn onto Main Street.
Clayton Connolly was a retired 20-year veteran of the Brooklyn Park Police Department.
