Final Push for Salvation Army Red Kettles

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign is in the final days.

Spokesman Dan Furry asks that last minute shoppers consider donating to those in need…

The money you put in a Red Kettle in your hometown, your community stays in that community. So it doesn’t go off to some national clearing center.”

Furry says demand for their services, including food, rental, and heating assistance, remains at a record high…

Demand for services remains high because people can’t afford to pay all their bills. I hate to think of a family who has to make a choice between buying food for their family or paying rent.”

Locally, former State Farm Insurance Agents, policy holders and friends continue to offer to match all the donations put in the local Salvation Army red kettles through December 24th. Elmer “El” Schefers of Buffalo reached out to KRWC Radio to remind listeners of the donation match. El has been a bell ringer and fundraiser for the Salvation Army for some 20 years, and continues to ring at the age of 84.

Anyone with questions on direct donations which are tax deductible may contact El at (612) 834-1946.
