A record number of Americans are projected to travel over the 2025 Christmas – New Year’s holiday period.
AAA projects 122.4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the 13-day year-end holiday period from December 20th through January 1st. This year’s forecast is a 2.2 percent increase over 2024, surpassing last year’s record of 119.7 million travelers.
AAA says most of those traveling will be in their car, but a new record of more than 8 million travelers are expected to travel by air to their destination.
Though significantly lower volumes are expected, travel by bus, train and cruise ship is also expected to be up about 9 percent this holiday season according to AAA.
