Friday, December 26th.

Boys Basketball.

Andover 83, STMA 70. The Knights jumped out to a ten-point halftime lead, but the Huskies stormed back to win behind 25 points each from Colton Miller, and Joseph Mapson at the Granite City Classic on Friday. Braylon Bohm (25 points) and Maverick Maros (20) led the Knights in scoring.

Boys Hockey.

Hermantown 7, Delano 3. Daniel Halonen scored two goals, while Brady Kangas scored two goals and added an assist in the Tigers loss at Hermantown.

Saturday, December 27th.

Girls Basketball.

Annandale 58, Buffalo 57. It’s been a long time since Buffalo and Annandale have met in a girls’ basketball, but after Saturday’s game this should be every year deal! The Bison jumped out to a 15-0 lead, and it looked like it would be a long day for the Cards. Annandale crawled back to cut it to 23-20 at the half, then the fun really began! The Bison extended their lead to 43-34 midway through the second half, but Annandale stormed back to take a one-point lead with two minutes left. After a timeout by Bison head coach Jordan Zrust, the Bison went inside to their top player Brianna Eggers who scored and added a free throw. The Bison then scored off the inbounds as they put on a press, and after a steal and layup by Mia Haugen, the Bison led by four. The game turned on the next possession. Eggers reached over the line while trying to guard the Annandale in bounder, and was assessed a technical foul, which was Eggers 5th, and she fouled out with a game high 25 points. The Cards hit two free throws, and after getting the ball back Jordan Schoberg hit a three from the left wing, giving Annandale a 58-57 lead. The Bison had one more chance, but Kherington Braun missed a runner at the end and the Cards held on to win. With the win, the Cards improved to 2-7, while Buffalo dropped to 3-8. Amelia Edmondson led the Cards with 14 points.

Rockford 46, St. Cloud 31. Riley Freed (14), Alyssa Gillman (12) and Sofia Westgaard (11), scored 36 of the 47 points in the Rockets win.

Orono 88, STMA 61. Cail Jahnke was the only player in double figures for the Knights, as the Spartans rolled to the win on Saturday.

Boys Basketball.

Buffalo 73, Annandale 59. In the second annual battle of the Ortman’s, Andy is the head coach for Annandale and Josh his brother is the head coach for Buffalo, the Bison once again prevailed in a physical game on Saturday at Annandale. The Cards got off to a quick start, leading 20-12, but Buffalo went on a 17-2 run at the end of the half, to take a 34-24 halftime lead. In the second half with the Bison up 43-31, Annandale Junior Colton Purcell, scored his 1000th career point and that seemed to spark the Cards for a while. Annandale cut it to seven before, Jase Johnson hit back-to-back 3’s to put the game away for Buffalo. The Bison had five players score in double figures, led by Matthew Jordan’s 16. Purcell led Annandale with 35 points, and 10 rebounds. The Bison are now 6-0, while Annandale is 3-2.

Rockford 65, North Branch 41. Ethan Robran led four players in double figures for the Rockets with 15 points.

Hibbing 82, STMA 68.

Boys Hockey.

Delano 3, Hibbing 3. Daniel Halonen scored two goals, including the game tying goal with five seconds left as the Tigers tied Hibbing on Saturday.

Jefferson 4, Buffalo 3. Brandon Rodenwald netted two goals for the Bison on Saturday, but it was the Jaguars who pulled out the win at the historic Bloomington Ice Gardens.

Monday, December 29th.

Boys Hockey.

Monticello 6, Mankato East 1. Ashton Stoll scored two goals and added two assists in the Moose win.

St. Cloud Cathedral 8, Litchfield DC 1. The defending A champs were too much for the Dragons on Monday in St. Cloud. Tripp McCann scored the lone Dragons goal.

Girls Hockey.

Simley 4, Litchfield DC 2. Elaine Neimela and Mya Iverson gave the Dragons a quick 2-0 lead, but the Spartans scored the final four and skated away with the win.

North Wright County 5, Gentry 3.

Boys Basketball.

Howard Lake WW 87, St. Agnes 65.

Central Minnesota Christian 85, Dassel-Cokato 46.

Tuesday, December 29th.

Boys Hockey.

Monticello 7, Luverne 3. Carter Lemke netted a hat trick in the Moose win.

Carter Lemke, above, got the game winning puck after scoring three goals in the Monticello win.

Litchfield DC 6, Mankato East 4. Jaeden McKinley and Landon Corbin each scored two goals in the Dragons win.

Elk River 5, Buffalo 4. The Elks rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the second period to win on the road at Buffalo. Charlie Rosso, and Cooper and Mason Dalbec scored three of the Bison goals.

Girls Hockey.

Grand Rapids 1, North Wright County 0. Kylie DeBerg scored in the first period for the Thunder Hawks and that was all the scoring in the game.

Anoka 2, Litchfield DC 0. Karma Waste stopped all 27 shots she faced in the Tornadoes win.

Boys Basketball.

Bemidji 81, Monticello 71. Jaxon Boschee was the high scorer with 30 on the night as the Lumberjacks won at home vs. Monticello.

With 30 points on Tuesday night, Jaxon Boschee, above, is just 17 points from becoming Bemidji’s all time leading scorer in basketball.

Buffalo 82, Elk River 52.

Barnesville 84, Howard Lake WW 81.

Redwood Valley 71, Dassel-Cokato 68.

Girls Basketball.

Monticello 45, Proctor 37. The Magic won a defensive battle over the Rails at the Monti invite on Tuesday.

Wed., December 31st.

Boys Hockey.

Monticello 1, Cloquet 0. Ashton Stoll scored the only goal and the game winning goal at the 12:33 mark of the third period as the Moose shutout Cloquet on Wed. Nolan Wurm picked up his second career shutout with 24 saves for Monticello.

Luverne 3, Litchfield DC 1.

Girls Hockey.

Eden Prairie 3, North Wright County 2. Charlotte Heckendorf and Stevie Mae Lawrence gave the River Hawks a 2-1 lead going into the third period, but the Eagles scored two goals in the third period to steal one from North Wright County at home on Wed.

Sartell 3, Litchfield DC 2. Brooke Halvorson and Mya Iverson netted the two Dragons goals in their ot loss to the Sabers.

Girls Basketball.

Monticello 73, Rock Ridge 52. Four players scored in double figures led by Samantha Voll’s 27 points as the Magic defeated Rock Ridge in their Christmas Tournament.
