The investigation into an alleged federal fraud scheme in Minnesota continued to intensify this week, following the release of a viral YouTube video by a conservative influencer that appears to show abandoned daycare centers in the state continuing to receive taxpayer-funded subsidies.
6th District Congressman Tom Emmer of Delano commented this week…
“This Nick Shirley goes out there and finds more evidence of fraud in one day than Tim Walz and our Attorney General Keith Ellison have found in seven years. Why did he find it? Cause he looked for it.”
Despite raising concerns about the report’s accuracy, on Monday, state regulators dispatched inspectors to each center featured in the video to determine whether any licensing violations or other issues existed.
Governor Walz’s spokesperson issued a statement this week saying, “The Governor has worked for years to crack down on fraud and asked the state legislature for more authority to take aggressive action. He has strengthened oversight – including launching investigations into these specific facilities, one of which was already closed.”
