More work is planned to begin this spring on the I-94 Gap Project from Albertville to Monticello.
MnDOT says milestones on the project in 2025 included re-construction of the westbound road surface and the addition of a third westbound lane from County Road 37 in Albertville to west of Highway 25 in Monticello, replacement of the westbound bridge over Wright County Road 19 in Albertville, widening of the westbound bridge over County Road 75 in Monticello, repair or replacement of underground pipes, and the start of construction on noise barrier walls along the freeway in Monticello.
Officials say work will begin in the spring on the construction of a third eastbound lane, as well as more noisewall construction and new ramps at County Road 18.
When complete at the end of the construction, benefits will include a reduction of bottlenecks, improved safety, a smoother road surface, improved freight access, improved distribution to other arterial routes, and an extension of the life of the interstate.
The 76-million-dollar project was funded by federal Corridors of Commerce funding.
