Continued Push for Year-Round, Nationwide E15

The Minnesota Biofuels Association’s director says securing year-round, nationwide E15 could help speed up the EPA’s release of renewable volume obligations for 2026 and 2027.

Brian Werner adds that the E15 legislation may also address reforms to the agency’s small refinery exemption process and boost demand for ethanol…

But also the demand decreases potentially from SRE’s (Small Refinery Exemption) going forward. So I think just having more information and having more certainty is just always going to be a better thing for all market participants, both renewable fuel producers, but also refiners as well.”

The EPA has yet to finalize its proposed renewable fuel standards for 2026 and 2027 that were announced last June.
