Former State Senator Scott Jensen has announced that he is ending his campaign for the Republican endorsement for governor…

“Today I’m announcing that I am withdrawing from the governor’s race, instead I am running to be the next state auditor for Minnesota.”

Jensen finished fourth in the GOP gubernatorial straw poll at the precinct caucuses. He said in a campaign video that he is confident that one of his Republican colleagues will be well-positioned to win the governor’s race in November.

Jensen says he will instead turn his attention to becoming the watchdog that the state needs, and will “…declare war on waste, fraud and abuse.”

Jensen will likely face at least two other GOP candidates in the primary for state auditor.
