Drivers in the Wright County area will be facing back-to-back years of major road work on State Highway 25 in 2026, and 2027.

(2026 Work Zone Map – MnDOT)
Most residents of the area have been aware of the major re-construction project on Highway 25 between Buffalo and Monticello coming this summer, but MnDOT has also announced a new 4.7 million dollar state-funded project in 2027 that will completely overhaul the bridge deck on Highway 25 over Interstate 94 in Monticello.

(2027 I-94 bridge work plan – MnDOT)
The original plan by MnDOT has been to keep the bridge open during much of the four-month project, in a fashion similar to the way the work was done when the Mississippi River bridge was re-surfaced in 2024.
However, at the February 9th Monticello City Council meeting, discussion focused on a complete closure of the bridge and the on/off ramps in a cooperative agreement approved by the council in order to get the work completed sooner.
Under that plan, a detour route will include CSAH 75 to the north of the Highway 25 freeway bridge and Chelsea Road to the south – both connecting to Fenning Avenue to access I-94.
MnDOT will provide timeline updates as the project gets closer.
