A judge has once again delayed the legal proceedings against a Watkins man who is accused of killing his co-worker last November.
The murder trial of 40-year-old David Delong has once again been put on indefinite hold due to the outcome of a second mental competency evaluation determined that he is not able to understand the court proceedings.
This is the second time that proceedings against Delong have been held up by a judge’s ruling that the accused man is not competent to stand trial.
You’ll remember that Delong faces first-degree premeditated murder, and second-degree intentional murder in the November 11th, 2025 death of 20-year-old Amber Czech at the workplace in Cokato where both were employed.
Delong is accused of beating the young woman to death with a sledgehammer at her work station. Charges against him indicate he allegedly told investigators that he didn’t like the young woman and had planned to kill her for some time.
