Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar is continuing the push for year-round E-15 sales.
The ranking member on the U-S Senate Agriculture committee says making 15-percent ethanol fuel available in all states in the summer makes good sense now more than ever…
“It’s an obvious solution to what we’re facing now which is some higher gas prices which we weren’t facing a few months ago. It seems to me like the moment to seize, to show that we have diversified fuel supply. And it’s already what ten percent of our fuel.”
National Corn Growers president Jed Bower spoke about the move during a recent Senate Ag Committee hearing…
“As we look at what E-15 could potentially due for growers. For every one percent we increase that blend wall. So as we go from ten to 11 to 12 (percent) and on up, for every one percent that’s 490 million bushels of grind. Any relief right now is tremendous for growers.”
Minnesota and seven Midwestern states have permanent EPA waivers allowing year-round E-15 sales at the pumps, but 42 states cannot sell it between June and mid-September.
The U-S House Ag committee did not include year-round E-15 in its recently passed “skinny” farm bill.
