Minnesota’s turkey population continues to rise despite record harvests the last two spring seasons.
Glenn Schmitt with Outdoor News says the Minnesota DNR is working on possible solutions. Officials sent turkey hunters a survey to weigh in…
“And one of the things that was one there was possibly how much support there would be for a two-bag limit in the spring, two Toms, two male turkeys. And there seemed to be some support for it.”
Schmitt says he personally would rather see an extended season with the current one-bag limit, so more hunters can find the time to get outdoors. He says in his opinion, the current 7-day window allotted isn’t enough.
Select turkey hunting seasons in Minnesota begin in mid-April and continue through late May.
